New Delhi, April 7 (ANI): In a significant blow to narcotics trafficking under the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan, the Anti-Narcotics Task Force (ANTF) of the Delhi Police Crime Branch has arrested a notorious interstate drug trafficker and seized 315 grams of high-grade heroin, valued at over ₹1.5 crore in the illegal market.
The accused, Imran alias Chaddi alias Mota, 39, a resident of Gautam Vihar, Usmanpur, was apprehended during a targeted raid on April 3 near Shamshan Ghat Puliya, close to the Maujpur Red Light, Kabir Nagar.
Imran was intercepted while traveling in a white car to deliver the contraband. During the search, police recovered a black polythene packet containing heroin, categorized as a commercial quantity under the NDPS Act.
A case has been registered under Sections 21 and 25 of the NDPS Act at the PS Crime Branch, Delhi.
Investigations revealed that Imran sourced the heroin from an individual named Raja, also from Usmanpur, and distributed it across Delhi and NCR. Authorities described Imran as a repeat offender, previously involved in 10 criminal cases, including:
- 2 under the NDPS Act
- 8 for heinous crimes: murder, attempted murder, armed robbery, and Arms Act violations
One notable case dates back to 2015, where Imran and associates allegedly shot a woman who later died, in an incident reported at PS Khajuri Khas.
“We are focusing on both backward and forward linkages of the seized contraband,” said DCP Apoorva Gupta, highlighting intensified efforts to dismantle the wider drug syndicate.
This arrest underscores the Crime Branch’s zero-tolerance stance on narcotics and reflects ongoing efforts to disrupt organized drug networks in the national capital. (ANI)
