New Delhi [India], June 4 (ANI): The Delhi Police have successfully solved a high-profile murder case from the Bindapur area, arresting 24-year-old Nitish Dass in connection with the crime. The arrest was made by a joint team from the Anti-Narcotics Cell and Bindapur police station, under the jurisdiction of Dwarka district in New Delhi.
Dwarka Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Ankit Singh provided details about the case, which surfaced on May 9, 2025, when a PCR call was received at Bindapur police station. The caller, Baleshwar Dass, reported that his son Akhilesh Dass had been found strangled outside their rented residence in Phase-2, JJ Colony, Sector 3, Dwarka. The police registered a case under section 103(1) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and launched an immediate investigation.
Given the serious nature of the crime, a special joint investigation team was formed under the leadership of Inspector Subhash Chand of the Anti-Narcotics Cell and Inspector Darshan Lal, SHO of Bindapur police station. The team analysed CCTV footage from the crime scene and nearby locations and examined known criminals and individuals seen around the time of the incident.
The CCTV footage revealed a suspect, later identified as Nitish Dass, near the crime scene. The team deployed secret informers, and crucial information was gathered by a Head Constable of the Anti-Narcotics Cell on May 11, which led to identifying Nitish. After ongoing surveillance, Nitish was apprehended in Nawada, Bihar on May 14.
During interrogation, Nitish admitted to strangling Akhilesh with an iron wire on May 8, following a confrontation. Nitish revealed that he had been in a relationship with a girl from his neighborhood, and although their families approved their marriage, Akhilesh, the girl’s cousin, opposed the relationship and had threatened Nitish multiple times.
On the day of the murder, Akhilesh visited Nitish’s residence and confronted him, which led to Nitish strangling him in a sudden rage. After the murder, Nitish disposed of the body near the victim’s house late at night and fled to Bihar by train the next morning to avoid arrest.
The police have recovered the clothes worn by Nitish during the crime and the iron wire used to strangle the victim. Further investigation is ongoing. (ANI)
