New Delhi [India], May 1 (ANI): Delhi Police on Thursday filed a second supplementary chargesheet in a case under the Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act (MCOCA), naming former MLA Naresh Balyan and three other accused linked to an alleged organized crime syndicate run by gangster Kapil Sangwan, also known as Nandu.
Alongside Balyan, the chargesheet names Sahil alias Poli, Vijay alias Kalu, and Jyoti Prakash alias Baba. This marks the first time Balyan has been officially charged in the ongoing investigation. Earlier filings include a main chargesheet against Ritik alias Peter, and a first supplementary chargesheet naming Rohit alias Anna and Sachin Chikara.
The case is being heard by Special Judge Dig Vinay Singh, who is scheduled to review Delhi Police’s latest submissions on Friday.
Balyan was arrested on December 4, 2025, in connection with the organized crime case. Following his arrest, the court granted a 60-day extension on March 1 to allow the police additional time to complete their investigation. With that extension due to expire on May 4, the court on April 23 approved a further 11-day extension for the investigation against co-accused Sahil and Vijay Gahlaut alias Kalu.
During the April hearing, the Investigation Officer ACP Naresh and Special Public Prosecutor appeared before the court and requested a 30-day extension to continue the inquiry. The judicial custody for Balyan and the other accused has been extended until May 5.
The court has already taken cognisance of the chargesheets against Ritik alias Peter, Rohit alias Anna, and Sachin Chikara.
This ongoing case, with links to Kapil Sangwan’s criminal syndicate, underscores the efforts of Delhi Police in cracking down on organized crime and gang-related activities under the stringent provisions of MCOCA.
