Paris [France], June 16 (ANI): The Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) is set to make a prominent appearance at the Paris Air Show 2025, showcasing a wide range of cutting-edge indigenous defence technologies. The event, scheduled from June 16 to 22 at Le Bourget, France, will serve as a global stage to highlight India’s growing strength in aerospace innovation and self-reliant defence capabilities.
In a post shared on X on Monday, DRDO confirmed its participation and detailed its planned exhibits, including next-generation unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), sophisticated avionics, and state-of-the-art indigenous defence systems. The organisation emphasized that its participation demonstrates India’s “self-reliance, collaboration, and strategic capability” on an international platform.
The announcement was accompanied by a video teaser, offering glimpses of the high-tech arsenal that will be on display. Key highlights include the ASTRA Missile System, a Beyond-Visual-Range (BVR) class Air-to-Air Missile (AAM), capable of engaging high-speed, highly maneuverable aircraft under all-weather, day-and-night conditions. The ASTRA Mk-I, currently being integrated with the Indian Air Force’s SU-30 Mk-I fighter jets, is among several variants under development to meet varied operational needs.
Also featured is the Tejas Mk-2, the indigenous Light Combat Aircraft (LCA AF Mk-2), developed by Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL), which represents a significant leap in India’s fighter aircraft capabilities. DRDO will also exhibit the Weapon Locating Radar ‘Swathi’, developed in collaboration with Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL), which is designed to detect and locate enemy artillery, mortars, and rocket launchers, significantly enhancing battlefield surveillance and countermeasure strategies.
The Airborne Early Warning & Control System (AEW&C), a critical “system of systems” that enables real-time detection, tracking, and identification of hostile aircraft and UAVs, will also be part of the showcase, enhancing situational awareness and command capabilities. Another major display is the HELINA missile, a third-generation, fire-and-forget, helicopter-launched anti-tank guided missile mounted on the Advanced Light Helicopter (ALH), demonstrating India’s advanced capabilities in precision strike systems.
The SHYEN (Payloads for Dornier Mid-Life Upgrade) will also be featured, focusing on improving the Dornier aircraft’s operational effectiveness through the integration of advanced payloads and mission systems.
The Paris Air Show will provide DRDO with a valuable opportunity to not only display India’s technological milestones in defence and aerospace but also foster collaboration with global partners. The display reflects India’s strategic shift toward indigenous innovation and global engagement in the defence sector. (ANI)
