Washington [US], June 17 (ANI): Amid rising tensions between Israel and Iran, US President Donald Trump issued a stark warning early Monday, calling for the immediate evacuation of Tehran. The statement came via Trump’s social media platform, Truth Social, just hours before the White House confirmed he would leave the G7 summit early to address what it described as “many important matters.”
In a series of strongly worded posts, Trump condemned Iran for its failure to agree to a nuclear deal, reiterating his longstanding opposition to Tehran’s nuclear ambitions. “Iran should have signed the ‘deal’ I told them to sign. What a shame, and waste of human life,” he posted. “Simply stated, IRAN CAN NOT HAVE A NUCLEAR WEAPON. I said it over and over again! Everyone should immediately evacuate Tehran!”
In a follow-up post, Trump tied his Iran policy to his broader “America First” agenda, writing, “AMERICA FIRST means many GREAT things, including the fact that, IRAN CAN NOT HAVE A NUCLEAR WEAPON. MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!!!”
The urgency of Trump’s message was underscored by reports from Iranian state media of explosions and heightened air defense activity over Tehran. These developments follow days of Israeli airstrikes in the Iranian capital. While the United States has not formally joined Israel’s military operation, Trump’s statements have fueled speculation about potential American involvement.
The Israeli military has claimed full control over Tehran’s airspace and has expanded its targets beyond military and nuclear infrastructure to include state-owned facilities, such as Iran’s national broadcaster. Israel has issued evacuation warnings in several densely populated districts, including the area surrounding state television headquarters. It remains unclear how many civilians have managed to leave, or if a mass evacuation is even feasible given the sudden escalation.
Tehran, with a population of around 10 million—and 17 million in its greater metropolitan area—has been thrown into uncertainty by the overnight developments. Trump’s evacuation call came around 2 a.m. local time, adding to the panic sparked by the air raid sirens and explosions.
Just hours before his Truth Social warnings, Trump had offered a more diplomatic tone during a press briefing at the G7 summit in Canada. He confirmed ongoing indirect communications with Tehran, saying, “I think a deal will be signed. I think Iran is foolish not to sign one.”
He also hinted that negotiations could intensify once he returned to Washington. “I think Iran is basically at the negotiating table and wants to make a deal. As soon as I leave here, we’re going to be doing something,” he told reporters at the summit.
In response to the airstrikes, Iranian officials called on the United States to intervene and help de-escalate the situation. However, Trump’s remarks suggested a hardline approach remained in place, with military pressure and economic sanctions continuing to shape US strategy toward Iran.
The unfolding conflict has drawn international concern, particularly among G7 leaders. A joint statement issued earlier reiterated their collective support for Israel’s right to self-defense, while warning against Iran’s destabilizing actions in the region.
As tensions escalate, the global community watches closely for the next steps in what could become a defining moment in Middle Eastern geopolitics and US foreign policy. (ANI)
