New Delhi [India], May 18 (ANI): India conducted a tri-services war game exercise named ‘Haldi Ghati’ from April 18 to 21 to ensure seamless communication among the three armed forces. The primary goal was to enable efficient communication without any obstacles, allowing the services to coordinate effortlessly. Simultaneously, the Indian Navy was engaged in Exercise Tropex, a major theatre-level readiness drill in the Arabian Sea involving most of the Navy’s significant warships.
Following the Pahalgam attack on April 22, the Department of Military Affairs, led by Chief of Defence Staff Gen Anil Chauhan, promptly implemented the lessons learned from the communications exercise, according to defense sources. Officials carried out successful trials to ensure joint communication between the Army, Navy, and Air Force.
The period leading up to the May 7 attack was fully utilized to solidify joint communication strategies. During this time, Joint Air Defence Centres were established in the forward areas of the India-Pakistan border. These centers brought together the air defense weapon systems and command and control systems from all three forces, providing a coordinated defense against Pakistani drone attacks on May 7, 8, and 9.
The integrated communication systems allowed force commanders at the Delhi headquarters to maintain a real-time picture of the battlefield. This joint approach was crucial in coordinating responses to enemy movements and threats.
The Tropex exercise in the Arabian Sea proved essential for the Indian Navy, allowing it to deploy rapidly to strategic points. This readiness forced the Pakistan Navy to keep its assets close to the Makran coast, minimizing their operational range. The Indian Navy’s frontline warships were strategically positioned and prepared for action, demonstrating the effectiveness of the joint military exercises in bolstering national security. (ANI)
