Washington, DC [US], December 25 (ANI): India’s Ambassador to the United States, Vinay Mohan Kwatra, held discussions with US Ambassador to India Sergio Gor at Mar-a-Lago, focusing on strengthening trade ties between the two nations.
In a post on X, Kwatra said the two ambassadors also discussed the broader bilateral partnership between New Delhi and Washington. “Happy to connect with @USAmbIndia Sergio Gor in Mar-a-Lago. Extensive discussions on our shared goal to strengthen trade ties, as also his plans and priorities for our bilateral partnership as he prepares to assume his responsibility as the U.S. Ambassador to India,” the post read.
Earlier, Gor said it was a pleasure to meet Kwatra, noting that it marked the Indian envoy’s first visit to Mar-a-Lago. He later extended greetings on the occasion of Christmas and the New Year.
Gor also met US President Donald Trump during the visit. “Wishing everyone a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!” he said in a post on X.
The meeting comes amid ongoing trade talks between India and the United States, with New Delhi close to finalizing a trade deal in the backdrop of tariffs imposed on Indian imports.
Meanwhile, amid the Christmas festivities, the US Embassy in New Delhi announced that routine consular services would not be available from December 24 to December 26, in accordance with a Presidential Executive Order mandating the closure of executive departments and federal agencies during this period.
In a post on X, the embassy said the US Embassy and Consulates in India would remain closed from Wednesday, December 24, 2025, to Friday, December 26, 2025, and that routine consular services would not be available during these dates.
