Lucknow (Uttar Pradesh) [India], June 16 (ANI): Praising the ongoing police recruitment drive in Uttar Pradesh, Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya said that, for the first time in history, such a large number of youth have been given the opportunity to join the state police force. He noted that Union Home Minister Amit Shah personally handed out appointment letters to the new recruits, which has strengthened public trust in a merit-based, corruption-free recruitment process.
“In Uttar Pradesh’s history, this is the first time so many youth have gotten a chance to join the Uttar Pradesh Police. For the first time, Union Home Minister Amit Shah distributed appointment letters to the new recruits. The youth have faith that jobs in UP will be given based on merit in a corruption-free manner,” Maurya told ANI.
The Deputy CM also lauded the Yogi Adityanath-led government, emphasizing that in the last eight years, over 8.5 lakh individuals have secured government employment—an unprecedented achievement.
“It is a historic achievement of our government where around 8.5 lakh people have gotten government jobs in the last eight years. Earlier, no government job was available without paying bribes,” he added.
Earlier on Sunday, Union Home Minister Amit Shah distributed appointment letters to 60,244 Civil Police Constables of the Uttar Pradesh Police at an event in Lucknow.
In his address, Amit Shah, who also serves as the Minister of Cooperation, said that more than 60,000 youth are now becoming an integral part of the largest police force in India. He acknowledged that while the Uttar Pradesh Police is the largest force in the country, law and order had been deteriorating in previous years. However, he credited Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath’s leadership since 2017 for revitalizing the force and putting it back on the path of excellence.
Deputy CM Maurya also expressed his condolences over the tragic AI-171 plane accident. Calling it an “extremely sad” incident, he offered prayers for the deceased and strength for the grieving families.
“It is an extremely sad accident. We pray for those not amongst us now and pray that their families find the courage to deal with the loss,” Maurya said. (ANI)
