
New Delhi [India], July 14 (ANI): The government on Friday issued orders appointing five judges as Chief Justices of various High Courts and transferring four incumbent Chief Justices to new assignments, according to a press communique from the Ministry of Law and Justice.
The appointments, made by President Droupadi Murmu, follow recommendations of the Supreme Court Collegium headed by Chief Justice of India B.R. Gavai on May 26, 2025. The move seeks to strengthen leadership and enhance efficiency in the higher judiciary.
Justice Sanjeev Sachdeva, currently serving as Acting Chief Justice of the Madhya Pradesh High Court, has been elevated as its permanent Chief Justice. Justice Vibhu Bakhru of the Delhi High Court has been appointed Chief Justice of the Karnataka High Court. Justice Ashutosh Kumar, Acting Chief Justice of the Patna High Court, has been named Chief Justice of the Gauhati High Court. Justice Vipul Manubhai Pancholi, a judge of the Patna High Court, will now serve as Chief Justice of that court. Justice Tarlok Singh Chauhan of the Himachal Pradesh High Court has been appointed Chief Justice of the Jharkhand High Court.
In addition, four Chief Justices have been transferred to new High Courts. Justice Manindra Mohan Shrivastava, currently Chief Justice of the Rajasthan High Court, will take charge of the Madras High Court. Justice Aparesh Kumar Singh, Chief Justice of the Tripura High Court, has been transferred to the Telangana High Court. Justice M.S. Ramachandra Rao, Chief Justice of the Jharkhand High Court, will assume the role of Chief Justice at the Tripura High Court. Justice K.R. Shriram, Chief Justice of the Madras High Court, has been transferred to the Rajasthan High Court.
These judicial elevations and transfers aim to bring robust leadership and smooth functioning across several High Courts in the country. (ANI)
