New Delhi [India], January 14 (ANI): Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri on Wednesday met Vice Minister Sun Haiyan of the International Department of the Communist Party of China (CPC). The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) shared on X that both sides reviewed the positive momentum in bilateral relations and discussed ways to further advance ties by enhancing people-to-people exchanges and addressing concerns on sensitive issues.
On January 13, leaders of the Chinese Communist Party met Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) Sarkaryavah Dattatreya Hosabale at the RSS headquarters. The meeting lasted approximately half an hour and, according to sources, was purely a courtesy call initiated after the CCP delegation expressed interest in interacting with the RSS leadership. No formal agenda was discussed during the interaction.
The CCP leaders also visited the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) headquarters, where they met with the party’s General Secretary Arun Singh and the Foreign Affairs Department Convener Vijay Chauthaiwale. Sources described both meetings as routine exchanges and emphasized that they should not be viewed as formal or policy-level engagements.
Chauthaiwale posted on X that a CCP delegation, led by Vice Minister Sun Haiyan, visited the BJP headquarters, where the BJP delegation, headed by General Secretary Arun Singh, discussed ways to advance inter-party communications between the BJP and CPC. Chinese Ambassador to India Xu Feihong also joined the delegation.
In August 2025, on the sidelines of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization Summit in Tianjin, Prime Minister Narendra Modi met with Cai Qi, Secretary of the Secretariat of the Chinese Communist Party, to discuss strengthening India-China cooperation and deepening bilateral political engagement. During his bilateral talks with Chinese President Xi Jinping, Modi emphasized his commitment to advancing India-China ties based on mutual trust, respect, and sensitivity. (ANI)
