Seoul [South Korea], October 29 (ANI): Ahead of his much-anticipated meeting with Chinese President Xi Jinping on Thursday, US President Donald Trump expressed confidence that the talks would yield positive results for both nations and the world.
Speaking to reporters aboard Air Force One en route to South Korea on Wednesday, Trump said, “Tomorrow morning is the one that most people find most interesting, and I think we’re going to have a great meeting with President Xi of China, and a lot of problems are going to be solved.”
He added that he was optimistic about the discussions, noting that his administration had already been in contact with Chinese officials. “I know a little bit about what’s going on because we have been talking to them. We’re not just walking into a meeting cold. The relationship with China is very good. So I think we’re going to have a very good outcome for our country and the world. I think it is important for the world,” Trump said.
Trump’s visit to South Korea has drawn significant attention as it precedes his first meeting with Xi since 2019. The two leaders are expected to discuss a range of critical global issues, including trade, security, and regional stability.
Meanwhile, North Korea announced on Wednesday that it had test-fired sea-to-surface strategic cruise missiles in the Yellow Sea a day earlier, just ahead of Trump’s arrival in South Korea for the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) gathering.
According to South Korean news agency Yonhap, the missile launch is seen as a pointed signal to Washington, as Trump has repeatedly indicated his willingness to reengage with North Korean leader Kim Jong Un, even suggesting he might extend his stay in South Korea if necessary. However, Pyongyang has yet to respond to his overtures. (ANI)
