
New Delhi [India], September 9 (ANI): Srinivas Injeti, Public Interest Director, has been appointed as Chairperson of the Governing Board of the National Stock Exchange of India Limited (NSE), effective Tuesday, with the approval of SEBI, according to a press release.
A retired IAS officer of the 1983 batch, Injeti brings over four decades of leadership experience in corporate regulation, financial services, governance, and public policy.
He served as Union Secretary in the Ministry of Corporate Affairs from 2017 to 2020, where he led key reforms in insolvency law, competition law, and company law. His tenure oversaw the establishment of the National Financial Reporting Authority (NFRA), creation of the Independent Directors’ databank, and strengthening of the corporate governance and CSR regulatory framework.
From 2020 to 2023, Injeti was the founding Chairperson of the International Financial Services Centres Authority (IFSCA), India’s first international financial regulator. During his term, he promoted initiatives in global banking, FinTech, sustainable finance, the funds ecosystem, the SGX-NSE IFSC Connect, bullion exchange, aircraft leasing, and Global Capability Centers (GCCs).
Earlier, as Union Sports Secretary and Director General of the Sports Authority of India, he conceptualized the Khelo India program and reformed India’s sports governance framework. He has also led the National Pharmaceutical Pricing Authority and held international assignments with the United Nations in Kosovo and Afghanistan.
Injeti has served on the Boards of SEBI, LIC, and state public sector undertakings, and was a member of the Financial Stability and Development Council of India from 2017 to 2023.
He holds a BA (Hons.) in Economics from Shri Ram College of Commerce, Delhi University, and an MBA from Strathclyde Graduate Business School, UK. His career reflects a blend of policy leadership, regulatory innovation, and international engagement, with a track record of driving institutional reform and governance enhancement. (ANI)
