Gandhinagar (Gujarat) [India], June 11 (ANI): Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel will attend and preside over the ‘Khedut Sammelan’ on Thursday in Bardoli, the historic ‘Karma Bhumi’ of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, as part of the nationwide celebration marking the 150th birth anniversary of the Iron Man of India.
The event is inspired by the vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, and is part of a broader series of celebrations held across India under the banner of ‘Ek Bharat, Shreshtha Bharat,’ according to a release from the Chief Minister’s Office.
The Khedut Sammelan will also mark the culmination of the Viksit Krishi Sankalp Abhiyan, a campaign launched to empower farmers and promote self-reliance in agriculture. The campaign, initiated by Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan on May 29 from Odisha, will conclude on June 12 at the same venue in Bardoli, in the presence of both Chief Minister Patel and Minister Chouhan.
The Viksit Krishi Sankalp Abhiyan aims to bring cutting-edge agricultural technology to rural areas and promote the informed use of micronutrients and sustainable practices. In Gujarat alone, the campaign has engaged over 400,000 farmers across 2,250 rural clusters in 31 districts, helping them take a significant step toward Atmanirbhar Krishi (self-reliant agriculture) and Atmanirbhar Kisan (self-reliant farmers).
During Thursday’s event, several key agricultural infrastructure projects will be electronically inaugurated:
Centre of Excellence for Horticultural Crops in Porbandar district
Centre of Excellence for Banana and Vegetables in Petlad taluka
Primary Processing Centre in Kutch
14 new godowns with a combined storage capacity of 25,000 metric tonnes
Additionally, the e-Foundation Stone Laying Ceremony for the Centre of Excellence for Sugarcane in Bardoli will be held, reinforcing the state’s commitment to enhancing crop-specific agricultural development.
The Khedut Sammelan, organized by the Gujarat Government’s Department of Agriculture, Farmers’ Welfare, and Cooperation, will begin at 10:00 AM on June 12 at the Sankari BAPS Mandir Complex in Bardoli. Gujarat Agriculture Minister Raghavji Bhai Patel is also expected to attend the event.
