New Delhi [India], December 10 (ANI): The World Health Organization (WHO) and the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare on Wednesday launched a month-long awareness campaign focusing on women’s and girls’ health and well-being at Sultanpur Metro Station in Delhi. The initiative uses the metro network to promote messages on women’s safety, health, mental well-being, and access to essential services.
Running from December 10, 2025, to January 10, 2026, the campaign displays information inside coaches and at select stations. Key themes include reducing the digital divide, promoting mental health support for women, raising awareness on tuberculosis, and highlighting provisions of the Pre-Conception and Pre-Natal Diagnostic Techniques (PC&PNDT) Act, 1994.
Catharina Boehme, Officer-in-Charge of WHO South-East Asia, and Punya Salila Srivastava, Union Health Secretary, flagged off the campaign train themed “Healthy Women = Healthy Nations, #BcozSheMatters.” Boehme stated, “Healthy women are the pillars of a healthy family, community, and nation. Improving their health, including mental well-being, is essential not just for them but for all of society.”
Union Health Secretary Srivastava emphasized the importance of accessible platforms to raise public awareness. “A family or nation cannot truly progress unless women are healthy. This metro campaign allows us to take this message directly to the public,” she said. Messages on TB, digital access, and the PC&PNDT Act are displayed both inside coaches and on exterior panels to maximize visibility.
The launch event included senior officials from the Health Ministry, WHO representatives, and youth council members from the YP Foundation. Celebrating the launch, all-women band WeBhor performed songs highlighting women’s resilience and dignity.
WHO noted that the campaign will also run across its digital platforms until January 10, 2026, encouraging wider engagement and commitment to ensuring women and girls live healthy, safe, and empowered lives.
