Srinagar (Jammu and Kashmir) [India], May 6 (ANI) — Despite heightened security following the tragic Pahalgam terror attack that left 26 people dead, Kashmir continues to charm visitors with its breathtaking landscapes and renowned hospitality. Tourists are flocking to the region, particularly to the tranquil Dal Lake, calling it “heaven on earth” and emphasizing the safety and warmth they feel in the area.
Tourists have been vocal about the welcoming nature of the locals and the peaceful environment, encouraging others to visit Kashmir. Faizan Ansari, a tourist visiting the valley, shared his positive experience, saying, “People of Kashmir are cooperative and well-qualified, and there is no issue. Right now, the situation is very good. I want to say to all tourists not to cancel your trip; you should visit Kashmir.”
A tourist from Mumbai added, “This is a very good place, that’s why Kashmir is called heaven on earth. Everybody should visit this place. The situation here is very safe, and people are nice… it is like a home away from home.”
Vikram Bhai Vyas, a tourist from Gujarat, expressed his satisfaction, stating, “I don’t feel good about leaving today. I’ve had a great time here. The hoteliers have supported us throughout our stay. We felt no fear, and locals have been welcoming. Tourists must visit — there is no fear as such.”
However, in contrast to the warm reception in many parts of Kashmir, visuals from Pahalgam’s Baisaran Valley — the site of the recent terror attack — depict a quieter scene. Once bustling with tourists, the area now sees limited movement, with only a few civilians and the constant presence of patrolling security forces.
Authorities in Jammu and Kashmir have stepped up their efforts to target individuals linked to the attack, ensuring that security is maintained. Meanwhile, the Indian Army has responded to ongoing provocations from across the Line of Control (LoC), with unprovoked small-arms fire from Pakistani positions on the night of May 5 to May 6.
In a statement, the Indian Army confirmed, “During the night of 05-06 May 2025, Pakistan Army resorted to unprovoked small-arms firing from posts across the Line of Control in areas opposite Kupwara, Baramulla, Poonch, Rajouri, Mendhar, Naushera, Sunderbani, and Akhnoor in J&K. Indian Army responded in a proportionate manner.”
Despite the security challenges, the enduring beauty of Kashmir and the hospitality of its people continue to attract visitors, with many still confident in the region’s safety. (ANI)
