Washington, D.C., April 12 (ANI): U.S. President Donald Trump on Sunday said he believes Tehran will eventually concede to American demands, while issuing a stark warning about potential military action.
Speaking to Fox News, Trump expressed confidence that Iran would return to negotiations. “I predict they come back and they give us everything we want,” he said.
Emphasizing what he described as Iran’s limited leverage, Trump added, “I want everything… They have no cards.”
The president also defended his recent hardline rhetoric, including a statement warning that a “whole civilization will die tonight.” He argued that such messaging played a role in bringing Iran to the negotiating table.
“When I say about a civilization, it really has changed. It really has. But think of it. They’re allowed to say, ‘Death to America.’ And I make one statement, and they say, ‘Oh, such a big deal.’ That statement got them to the bargaining table, and they haven’t left it,” Trump said.
Escalating his remarks, Trump reiterated his warning of possible military action. “I could take out Iran in one day,” he said.
He outlined the potential scale of such action, suggesting a rapid strike targeting key infrastructure, including energy facilities and transportation networks.
“In one hour, I could have their entire energy—everything—their plants, electric generating facilities. And I hate to do it, because if I do it, it takes years to rebuild. They may never be able to rebuild it. The other thing you take out are the bridges,” he said.
The comments come after marathon negotiations between the United States and Iran in Islamabad ended without an agreement after approximately 21 hours of talks.
U.S. Vice President JD Vance departed Islamabad following the stalemate, acknowledging that discussions failed to produce a breakthrough.
“We’ve had a number of substantive agreements with the Iranians—that is the good news. The bad news is that we have not reached an agreement. That is bad news for Iran, much more than it is bad news for the United States of America,” Vance said.
He added that while Washington had outlined its “red lines” and shown flexibility in some areas, Iran “chose not to accept our terms.”
“We just could not get to a situation where the Iranians were willing to accept our terms,” Vance said, noting that the United States has presented what it described as a “final and best offer.”
Iranian state broadcaster Press TV, however, reported that the talks collapsed due to what it called “excessive demands” by the United States, with disagreements centered on Iran’s nuclear program and control of the Strait of Hormuz. (ANI)
