St Petersburg [Russia], June 19 (ANI): India outlined its inclusive vision for the future of artificial intelligence at the St Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF) 2025, with Union Minister for Railways, Information and Broadcasting, and Electronics and IT, Ashwini Vaishnaw, delivering a keynote address during a high-level session titled “At the Forefront of Technology: The Future of AI & Global Competition.”
Addressing a distinguished global audience, including delegates from Central Asian countries, Vaishnaw underscored the importance of democratising AI. “Equity and accessibility are central to our AI vision,” he said, reaffirming India’s commitment to ensuring the benefits of artificial intelligence reach all sections of society, industries, and geographic regions.
He elaborated on India’s national AI strategy through the INDIAai Mission, grounded in the principles of ethical, transparent, and responsible innovation. The mission aligns with India’s broader socio-economic development agenda, placing strong emphasis on inclusive growth and sustainability.
Vaishnaw emphasized the role of India’s young, tech-savvy population, noting that the country is actively nurturing a skilled AI workforce to drive innovation and economic growth. He expressed confidence that this talent pool will help position India as a global leader in AI development and application.
On the sidelines of the forum, the minister also held a bilateral meeting with Russia’s Deputy Prime Minister Alexei Overchuk, where both leaders discussed strengthening cooperation in transport, connectivity, infrastructure development, and rare earth minerals—strategic sectors essential to both nations’ technological futures.
Vaishnaw’s presence at SPIEF 2025 underscored India’s growing stature as a technology-driven global power. By championing a human-centric and inclusive approach to AI, India aims to shape the international narrative on artificial intelligence while reinforcing its strategic partnerships on the global stage.
