New Delhi [India], September 17 (ANI): John Collings, Chairman of the Asia Pacific Medical Technology Association (APACMed) and President, Asia Pacific, Stryker, said on Tuesday that India is putting significant resources into creating opportunities for companies to work with authorities to deliver technology for the future.
Speaking to ANI on the sidelines of the MedTech Forum 2025, Collings highlighted the potential of artificial intelligence (AI) to transform healthcare.
“APACMed represents 300 companies from across the world, and we have members from 20–30 different countries here, all focused on advancing care in India,” Collings said. “AI offers a huge potential to alleviate the burden of disease and make advances. What is fantastic is that the Government of India is putting a lot of resources into it and creating opportunities for companies to engage with authorities to help deliver technology for the future. The Indian market is a huge opportunity, poised for explosive growth.”
Minister of State for Health Anupriya Patel, speaking at the event, described India’s med-tech sector as a “sunrise industry.” She said the government has taken several policy measures to promote its growth, noting that domestic manufacturing and exports are both on the rise.
“The sector, valued at 12 billion dollars today, is expected to more than double by 2030,” Patel said. “The production-linked incentive scheme is promoting domestic manufacturing of medical devices. Medical device parks with world-class infrastructure are coming up in Madhya Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, and Uttar Pradesh.”
In a post on X, Patel congratulated APACMed and participants on the success of the association’s first event in India, expressing confidence that the two-day forum would provide a vital platform for discussions among medical device companies, startups, hospitals, policymakers, and regulators to foster innovation and strategic partnerships.
