Kathmandu [Nepal], April 1 (ANI): The Embassy of India in Kathmandu, along with the Ministry of Federal Affairs and General Administration, Government of Nepal, and Project Implementing Agencies of the Government of Nepal, signed Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) for undertaking 10 High Impact Community Development Projects (HICDPs) in Nepal. These projects, implemented under the grant assistance of the Government of India, focus on the Education, Health, and Culture sectors and will be executed at a total cost of NRs. 625.00 million, according to a statement by the Indian Embassy in Kathmandu.
The Indian Embassy highlighted that the 10 projects include the construction of Sanba Secondary School in Mikuwa Khola Rural Municipality, Taplejung, Koshi Province; Ngagyur Nyngma Palyul Dhongag Chholing Monastery in Likhu-Pike Rural Municipality, Solukhumbu, Koshi Province; Nepal-Bharat Maitri E-Library at Shree Rastriya Primary School in Bharatpur Metropolitan City, Chitwan, Bagmati Province; Health Post Building in Ward-3, Indrawati Rural Municipality, Sindhupalchowk, Bagmati Province; Health Post Building in Ward-6, Indrawati Rural Municipality, Sindhupalchowk, Bagmati Province; Ninyukharka Secondary School in Dhurkot Rural Municipality, Gulmi, Lumbini Province; Naya Gaun Secondary School Building in Butwal Sub-Metropolitan City, Rupandehi, Lumbini Province; Nepal-Bharat Maitri Hospital Building in Chankheli Rural Municipality, Humla, Karnali Province; Siddhanath Secondary School in Dhangadhi Sub-Metropolitan City, Kailali, Sudurpashchim Province; and Shree Satyavadi Secondary School Admin & Hostel Buildings in Jayaprithivi Municipality, Bajhang, Sudurpashchim Province. These projects will be implemented through local authorities, including Metropolitan Cities, Sub-Metropolitan Cities, Municipalities, and Rural Municipalities.
According to the Embassy, the implementation of these High Impact Community Development Projects (HICDPs) will help enhance educational, healthcare, and cultural facilities for the people of Nepal.
Since 2003, India has undertaken over 573 High Impact Development Projects (HICDPs) in Nepal, including the 10 projects whose MoUs were signed today. Out of these, 495 projects have been completed across various sectors such as education, health, roads and bridges, river training, drinking water, electrification, irrigation, culture, social welfare, and public utilities across all seven provinces of Nepal at the grassroots level. The remaining projects are in different stages of completion.
As close neighbors, India and Nepal continue to engage in extensive multi-sectoral cooperation. The implementation of these HICDPs demonstrates India’s ongoing support in strengthening Nepal’s development efforts by improving infrastructure in key priority sectors. (ANI)
