New Delhi [India], May 11 (ANI): India has made it clear that it is not open to engaging in any discussions related to Kashmir, with sources asserting that the only issue left to address is Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir (PoJK).
According to sources, India has emphasized that all talks regarding the cessation of military action must be conducted exclusively through Director General of Military Operations (DGMO)-level channels, without any involvement of third-party nations. “We are not ready to engage on matters of Kashmir. The only thing left on Kashmir is PoK. The message is that it is the DGMO-level talks which is the channel of communication with regard to cessation of military action. No third country or no third party is to be involved in this,” sources said.
Operation Sindoor: India’s Retaliation to Pahalgam Attack
The Indian Armed Forces launched Operation Sindoor on May 7, targeting nine terrorist infrastructure sites in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir (PoJK), following the April 22 terror attack in Pahalgam that claimed the lives of 26 civilians, including one Nepali national. The operation, which aimed to neutralize terror infrastructure, further escalated tensions between India and Pakistan, leading to increased cross-border shelling and retaliatory actions.
Ceasefire Violation by Pakistan
After India’s military operation, there was a temporary agreement to halt military actions between India and Pakistan. Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri confirmed that Pakistan’s DGMO had reached out to his Indian counterpart, and both sides agreed to a ceasefire effective from 5 pm. Misri also mentioned that a new round of DGMO-level talks was scheduled for May 12 at noon to enforce the ceasefire.
However, despite the agreement, reports emerged of Pakistan violating the cessation of hostilities, with Indian air defense intercepting Pakistani drones in Srinagar amid a blackout. India has urged Pakistan to address these violations responsibly and take appropriate steps to maintain peace and ensure the ceasefire is respected. (ANI)
