Tel Aviv [Israel], December 2 (ANI): Israel Security and Intelligence expert Danny (Dennis) Citrinowicz said India offers substantial strategic value to Israel, given its size, capabilities, and growing global influence. He noted that Israel can support India in the defense arena and help address its security challenges.
Citrinowicz said Israel and India share long-standing strategic relations built over many years, adding that these ties remain critically important for both nations. “Israel can support India in multiple areas, particularly in defense, where Israel’s advanced technologies and defense industry can help India address its diverse security challenges. At the same time, India, given its size, growing capabilities, and global influence, offers significant strategic value to Israel. This partnership clearly serves the interests of both nations and is likely to expand further,” he said.
He emphasized that both countries have recently faced major security challenges, making strengthened cooperation essential. “Both countries have recently faced major security challenges, India in its conflict with Pakistan during Operation Sindoor, and Israel in its confrontation with Iran since the events of October 7. Security cooperation is therefore essential. Strengthening collaboration not only enhances our capabilities but also signals to adversaries that this strategic alignment is robust and mutually reinforcing. While the partnership spans multiple domains, including economic cooperation, defense remains a central pillar, driven by shared interests and common threats,” he said.
Discussing Operation Sindoor, Citrinowicz stressed the importance of holding not just terror groups but also their sponsors accountable. “It is not enough to target the group that carries out the attack; it is equally important to hold accountable the state that directs or enables such operations. India’s response during Operation Sindoor, much like Israel’s actions after October 7 against the Axis of Resistance, reflects a clear principle: deterrence must be directed at both the perpetrators and their sponsors. In many cases, striking the sender is the only way to restore stability and prevent further aggression,” he said.
On India’s defense capabilities post-Operation Sindoor, he said India faced significant challenges not only from Pakistan but also from China and Turkey, which supported it. Despite this, he noted, India demonstrated strong military capabilities, bolstered by its expanding defense industry and cooperation with partners like Israel. “The campaign was important because it established a firm red line: continued attacks would be met with decisive retaliation. This strengthened India’s deterrence posture and showed that India has the capability and resolve to counter Pakistan effectively. These developments are being closely observed by adversaries,” he added.
Addressing the broader scope of India-Israel defense relations, Citrinowicz said deeper cooperation is vital for strengthening military and defense capabilities. “India is a sovereign nation and will make its own decisions regarding Iran. However, it is important to recognize the security risks Iran poses to India, including its activities in Jammu and Kashmir and its close alignment with Pakistan. India can also draw lessons from Israel’s experience managing multiple fronts simultaneously. While India may not face the same number of fronts in the future, it does contend with significant challenges from China, Pakistan, and domestic terrorist threats. Israel’s expertise in handling multi-front conflicts could offer valuable insights,” he said.
He added that enhanced strategic cooperation will further bolster the defense preparedness of both nations. “Enhanced strategic cooperation not only deters adversaries but also allows both countries to apply lessons learned from recent conflicts, whether Operation Sindoor or Israel’s confrontation with Iran. Working together on these fronts will enable us to strengthen our preparedness for future challenges,” he said. (ANI)
