New Delhi [India], May 12 (ANI): The Director Generals of Military Operations (DGMO) of India and Pakistan concluded their talks today, sources said. Initially scheduled for noon, the discussions took place later in the evening.
The two countries had reached an understanding on Saturday to halt firing and military actions, following a call made by Pakistan’s DGMO to his Indian counterpart, Lt Gen Rajiv Ghai. Lt Gen Ghai shared during a press conference that the communication with the Pakistani DGMO occurred at 15:35 hrs on Saturday, resulting in the cessation of cross-border firing and air intrusions by both sides from 17:00 hrs, May 10.
Lt Gen Ghai noted, however, that within hours of the agreement, the Pakistan Army violated the ceasefire with cross-border firing and drone intrusions, prompting a robust response from India. He emphasized that India’s stance on any repeat violations is clear and that the Chief of Army Staff has empowered Army Commanders to respond firmly.
Operation Sindoor was launched by India on May 7, targeting nine terror sites in Pakistan and Pakistan-Occupied-Kashmir as a retaliatory measure following a terror attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, last month, which claimed 26 lives.
