New Delhi [India], November 15 (ANI): The Indian Air Force (IAF) is participating in the 8th edition of the bilateral air exercise Garuda 25 with the French Air and Space Force (FASF) at Mont-de-Marsan, France, from November 16 to 27, the Ministry of Defence said in an official statement on Saturday.
According to the Ministry, the IAF contingent arrived in France on November 10 and is participating with Su-30MKI fighter aircraft. Airlift support for the induction and de-induction phases is being provided by the C-17 Globemaster III, while IL-78 air-to-air refuelling tankers are extending the range and endurance of the participating fighters.
During the exercise, the IAF’s Su-30MKI aircraft will operate alongside French multirole fighters in complex simulated air combat scenarios involving air-to-air combat, air defence, and joint strike operations. The training aims to refine tactics and procedures in a realistic operational environment, promote mutual learning, and strengthen interoperability between the two Air Forces.
Exercise Garuda 25 also offers an important platform for professional interaction, exchange of operational expertise, and sharing of best practices. Participation underscores the IAF’s commitment to constructive engagement with friendly foreign Air Forces through bilateral and multilateral exercises, enhancing mutual understanding and cooperation in air operations.
India and France share deep and longstanding ties, anchored in a Strategic Partnership established on January 26, 1998. This cooperation spans defence and security, civil nuclear collaboration, and space, and has grown to include a strong Indo-Pacific component. (ANI)
