Rajouri (Jammu and Kashmir) [India], April 27 (ANI): In response to the recent terrorist attack in Pahalgam on April 22, the Indian Army has conducted specialized training for members of the Village Defence Groups (VDGs) in the Nowshera sector of Jammu and Kashmir’s Rajouri district.
According to an official release, the training is a significant step in enhancing security along the sensitive border areas, as part of the Army’s ongoing efforts to empower local communities and fortify border defense.
The training sessions, which are held periodically, focus on essential areas such as weapon handling, tactical response, and overall preparedness to address emerging security challenges. Army personnel provided detailed guidance to VDG members, ensuring they acquire the necessary skills to support security forces and protect their villages effectively.
Officials emphasized that the collaboration between the Indian Army and local defense groups plays a crucial role in strengthening the security framework of border regions. This partnership aims to develop a well-prepared local defense network capable of responding swiftly and efficiently to any security threat.
The Indian Army reiterated its commitment to empowering local communities through professional training, regular drills, and strategic guidance. This collaborative effort seeks to establish a robust defense mechanism that can respond rapidly in the event of a security breach.
Following the deadly attack at Baisaran meadow in Pahalgam on April 22, tensions have escalated along the borders. The Indian government has taken strong measures against Pakistan for its role in supporting cross-border terrorism. Officials have assured that the terrorists responsible for the Pahalgam attack and their conspirators will face severe repercussions.
The attack, which claimed the lives of 26 individuals, is one of the deadliest incidents in the Valley since the 2019 Pulwama strike, in which 40 CRPF jawans were killed.
On the night of April 26-27, the Indian Army responded decisively to Pakistani Army firing along the Line of Control (LoC) in areas opposite the Tutmari Gali and Rampur sectors. Officials stated that Indian security forces effectively retaliated with appropriate small arms fire.
Tensions along the LoC remain high, and security forces have intensified anti-terror operations across the Kashmir valley in the aftermath of the Pahalgam attack. (ANI)
