Srinagar (Jammu and Kashmir) [India], April 28 (ANI): The Indian Army delivered a prompt and robust response to unprovoked small arms fire initiated by the Pakistan Army across the Line of Control (LoC) during the night of April 27–28. The incidents occurred in areas opposite the Kupwara and Poonch districts of Jammu and Kashmir, officials reported.
According to sources, Indian troops responded swiftly and decisively to the aggression, ensuring a firm retaliation against the ceasefire violations. Further details regarding the skirmish are awaited.
This incident follows a similar confrontation reported the previous night, April 26–27, when the Indian Army responded effectively to unprovoked firing by Pakistani forces along the LoC in areas opposite the Tutmari Gali and Rampur sectors, officials added.
Tensions along the LoC remain high, particularly as security forces intensify anti-terror operations in the Kashmir Valley following the tragic Phalgam terror attack on April 22, which claimed the lives of 26 individuals.
In an official statement, the Indian Army said, “On the night of April 26–27, 2025, Pakistan Army posts initiated unprovoked small arms fire across the Line of Control in areas opposite the Tutmari Gali and Rampur Sectors. Our troops responded effectively with appropriate small arms fire.”
Meanwhile, in a separate development, Kulgam Police, in collaboration with the Army and the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), arrested two terrorist associates and recovered a significant cache of arms and ammunition in South Kashmir’s Kulgam district.
An official release stated that during a routine checkpoint operation at Matalhama Chowk Thokerpora, Qaimoh, two individuals were intercepted and subsequently apprehended. The arrested individuals have been identified as Bilal Ahmad Bhat, son of Abdul Salam Bhat, and Mohd Ismail Bhat, son of Ghulam Mohammad Bhat, both residents of Thokerpora, Qaimoh.
Upon conducting a search, security forces recovered two pistols, two pistol magazines, and 25 rounds of pistol ammunition from their possession. A case under relevant sections of law has been registered at Police Station Qaimoh, and an investigation is currently underway to determine further details. (ANI)
