London [UK], April 27 (ANI): Members of the Indian diaspora in London organized a counter protest outside the Indian High Commission on Sunday, responding to a Pakistani protest in the wake of the April 22 terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir.
Protesters condemned the attack, which was attributed to Pakistan-based terrorists, and emphasized that such violence was not an isolated incident. One protestor, a Hindu from Jammu and Kashmir, said, “I have come here to protest against the Pakistani terrorists who were involved. This is not the first attack in Jammu and Kashmir, many such incidents have occurred where Hindus were targeted selectively.”
She also recalled the 1990 exodus of Kashmiri Pandits, driven by similar Pakistan-backed terrorism, which forced the minority community to flee the Kashmir Valley. “We are raising our voices against these continuous terror attacks,” she added.
Another protestor shared their grief over the recurring violence: “We are saddened by what has happened. We are here to support the Indian community abroad, and our hearts are with our motherland.” They emphasized that their protest was peaceful, despite provocations from the other side.
The demonstration was a peaceful show of solidarity, countering a Pakistani protest earlier that day. “We are here to show our support and solidarity to the families of the 27 victims of the terror attack,” one participant said. They also expressed hope that the Indian government would respond strongly to Pakistan.
The peaceful protest continued with participants from various age groups and backgrounds, emphasizing unity and a commitment to peace. The attack on tourists at Baisaran meadow in Pahalgam on April 22, which killed 25 Indian nationals and one Nepalese citizen, has drawn widespread condemnation globally. (ANI)
