Speaking at the COAI Dialogues 2025 in New Delhi, Gorman highlighted India’s rise as a global digital and telecom hub. “India’s digital progress is really attracting more and more of the world’s attention. The country has already demonstrated its capacity for world-changing innovation at a population scale. Now, as it solidifies its position as a telecom superpower, it can become an inclusive superpower,” he said.
Gorman underscored that companies and vendors in the technology and digital ecosystem represent a “huge market full of opportunities.”
Lt Gen Dr SP Kochhar, Director General of the Cellular Operators Association of India (COAI), echoed this confidence, stating that India is poised to lead the global telecom sector. “With GSMA and COAI coming together for the first time, techcos, telcos, regulators and policymakers sat on the same table, speaking freely and frankly, and a lot of things came out of that,” he noted.
Gorman also stressed that mobile technology is no longer a niche sector but the “foundation of the digital economy.”
On cybersecurity challenges, he warned that sophisticated scams, malicious cyber-attacks, and data breaches are undermining public trust. “A digital nation, no matter how advanced, cannot thrive without the bedrock of digital trust. Protecting digital trust cannot be an afterthought—it requires collaboration across government, industry, and society to build a safe and resilient digital ecosystem,” Gorman added. (ANI)
