Banaskantha (Gujarat) [India], May 24 (ANI): Border Security Forces (BSF) on Friday night neutralized a Pakistani intruder attempting to enter Indian territory in Banaskantha district, Gujarat. According to a statement from the security forces, troops spotted a suspicious person advancing toward the border fence after crossing the International Border. The BSF challenged the intruder, but when he continued to advance, they opened fire, neutralizing him on the spot.
Security forces have been on high alert following ceasefire violations by Pakistan involving cross-border shelling after Operation Sindoor. India launched Operation Sindoor on May 7 in response to the Pahalgam terror attack, targeting terror infrastructure in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (POJK).
In Rajasthan, the BSF maintains a strong presence along the international border in Jaisalmer as part of ongoing Operation Sindoor. BSF personnel continue their efforts to ensure national security and prevent potential cross-border threats.
Yogendra Singh Rathore, Deputy Inspector General (DIG), Jaisalmer BSF, emphasized the force’s unwavering commitment to national security and highlighted its role as the first line of defense. He recalled the BSF’s critical role in the 1971 India-Pakistan war and the Kargil conflict. Reflecting on the recent terror attack on April 22 that killed innocent citizens, he said the BSF was prepared to respond decisively and support the Government of India’s decisions to prevent further misadventures.
BSF Officer Jaipal Singh highlighted the force’s readiness, particularly in neutralizing drone threats during Operation Sindoor. He noted, “During Operation Sindoor, drone activities increased significantly. The enemy sent drones and shells, and we used our equipment tactfully to neutralize their drones. The Indian Air Force played a crucial role, damaging many Pakistani air bases.”
The BSF closely coordinated with the Indian Air Force, which successfully targeted Pakistani airbases, damaging enemy infrastructure. Following a call from Pakistan’s Director General of Military Operations (DGMO) to his Indian counterpart, both countries agreed to cease military action.
