New Delhi [India], April 27 (ANI): The Intelligence Bureau (IB) has handed over a list of approximately 5,000 Pakistani nationals residing in Delhi to the Delhi Police, urging these individuals to return to their homeland. This action follows a directive from the central government in response to the recent terrorist attack on tourists in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir.
The Foreign Regional Registration Office (FRRO) has compiled the list, which includes both general and Hindu Pakistani nationals holding Long Term Visas (LTVs), with the latter group being exempted from the mandate. The list has been shared with the special branch of the Delhi Police, which will verify the details and initiate the necessary actions.
A senior official confirmed that the list was distributed to the relevant districts for further verification. “The Pakistani nationals have been asked to return to Pakistan,” the official said, adding that areas such as Central and North East Delhi have higher concentrations of Pakistani nationals.
A meeting was convened to address the situation, with Delhi Police instructed to take immediate action. Senior officers are actively overseeing the process, and the Intelligence Bureau and Delhi Police special branch are working together to collect information and ensure the expulsion of these individuals.
Two lists, consisting of 3,000 and 2,000 Pakistani nationals respectively, have been compiled. The names on these lists are being cross-checked, as some individuals have already left India. As of April 27, 2025, the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) revoked the visas of Pakistani nationals, excluding those with medical, diplomatic, and LTVs. Medical visas will also be invalidated after April 29, 2025. However, the LTVs granted to Hindu Pakistani nationals will remain valid.
It is estimated that around 900 Pakistani nationals reside near Majnu Ka Tila, with another 600-700 living near Signature Bridge. (ANI)
