Abu Dhabi [UAE], March 17 (ANI): A Pakistani national was killed after debris from an intercepted ballistic missile fell in Abu Dhabi’s Bani Yas area on Tuesday, authorities said, as the ongoing conflict between the United States, Israel, and Iran entered its third week.
“Abu Dhabi authorities have responded to an incident involving falling debris in the Bani Yas area following the interception of a ballistic missile by air defense systems. The incident resulted in the death of a Pakistani national,” the Abu Dhabi government media office said in a statement posted on X.
The statement urged the public to rely only on official sources for information and to avoid spreading rumors or unverified reports.
Earlier, the UAE said its air defense systems had responded to a missile threat. Explosions were also reported in Dubai and Doha, Qatar.
Qatar’s Ministry of Interior confirmed that emergency response teams were attending to a blaze in an industrial zone triggered by falling debris after the successful neutralization of an aerial threat.
According to the ministry, Civil Defence personnel were dealing with a “limited fire” caused by shrapnel from an intercepted missile.
In a statement released on social media, the ministry said no injuries had been reported.
The incident followed a broader engagement by Qatar’s defense systems. The Ministry of Defense said the country was targeted in an aerial attack involving 14 Iranian ballistic missiles and several drones, Gulf News reported.
In an update released via the Qatar News Agency, officials said the Qatari Armed Forces successfully intercepted all drones and 13 ballistic missiles launched during the attack.
According to Gulf News, one missile landed in an uninhabited area after bypassing primary defense systems. Authorities said the projectile caused no casualties or significant damage.
The armed forces remain on high alert as developments continue amid the broader conflict involving the United States, Israel, and Iran, now in its 18th day. (ANI)
