New Delhi [India], May 25 (ANI): With less than a month remaining for the 11th International Day of Yoga (IDY), Prime Minister Narendra Modi, in the 122nd episode of Mann Ki Baat, extended an inspiring appeal to citizens across the globe to embrace yoga for holistic well-being and vibrant living, according to an official statement by the Ministry of AYUSH.
The Prime Minister noted that enthusiasm for Yoga Day continues to rise both in India and abroad. “Since the beginning of ‘Yoga Day’ on 21 June 2015, attraction towards it is rising continuously. This time too, the zeal and enthusiasm among people all over the world with regard to Yoga Day is amply visible,” he stated.
PM Modi encouraged people to think creatively about how to celebrate the occasion. From forming yoga chains to practicing yoga at iconic sites, he said, people are transforming IDY into a dynamic and inclusive global movement.
Highlighting initiatives from across India, the PM praised Andhra Pradesh’s efforts through the YogAndhra Abhiyan, which aims to build a strong yoga culture in the state with a goal of cultivating one million regular practitioners. He expressed excitement about participating in this year’s Yoga Day celebrations in Visakhapatnam, underlining yoga’s role in both personal and national development.
Acknowledging growing corporate involvement, Modi noted, “Our corporates are not lagging behind in this. Some institutions have set aside a separate place for yoga practice in their offices. Some start-ups have set up ‘office yoga hours’.” He described this trend as a positive sign of the private sector’s contribution to the national health movement.
To commemorate a decade of Yoga Day and celebrate the 11th edition of IDY, the Ministry of Ayush has launched 10 Signature Events designed to extend yoga’s impact across social and professional spheres.
Among these, Yoga Sangam has seen over 6,000 organizations register to host yoga activities, making it one of the largest community-driven wellness events in India’s history. Yoga Unplugged, a youth-centric initiative, is gaining momentum, with leading institutions encouraging young practitioners. Meanwhile, Samyoga, a pioneering program, aims to integrate evidence-based yoga into mainstream healthcare systems such as Ayurveda, Homeopathy, Unani, Siddha, Naturopathy, and Sowa Rigpa.
PM Modi remarked, “Yoga will change the way you live your life.” He called on citizens, corporates, institutions, and youth to celebrate IDY 2025 in meaningful and innovative ways to ensure that yoga becomes an essential part of daily life.
The Ministry of Ayush invites everyone to be part of this transformative celebration. As the countdown to June 21 continues, the message is clear: yoga is not just a practice—it is a movement for national health, inner peace, and global well-being. (ANI)
