Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) continued their impressive away run, securing their fifth consecutive away win by defeating Punjab Kings (PBKS) by seven wickets in Mullanpur. The win also avenged RCB’s previous loss to PBKS earlier in the season at home.
RCB chased down PBKS’s target of 158 runs with ease, thanks to half-centuries from Virat Kohli (73* off 54 balls) and Devdutt Padikkal (61 off 35 balls). Padikkal’s quickfire knock included five fours and four sixes, while Virat’s knock was studded with eight fours and a six. The duo put on a 103-run partnership, taking RCB to a dominant victory in just 18.5 overs.
Earlier, PBKS struggled with the bat after a strong start by openers Priyansh Arya and Prabhsimran Singh. RCB’s spinners, particularly Krunal Pandya (2/25) and Suyash Sharma (2/26), controlled the middle overs, restricting PBKS to 157/6. Despite a late partnership of 41 runs between Marco Jansen and Shashank Singh, PBKS could not post a competitive total.
With this victory, RCB climbed to third place with five wins, three losses, and 10 points, while PBKS stayed fourth with the same win-loss ratio.
