New Delhi [India], April 30 (ANI): Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Member of Parliament Iranna B. Kadadi launched a scathing attack on Congress leaders on Wednesday, particularly in response to their remarks concerning the recent terror attack in Pahalgam. Kadadi asserted that many Congress leaders appear “mentally disturbed,” claiming they have been left speechless in the face of the exemplary leadership demonstrated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Speaking to ANI, Kadadi stated, “Most of the Congress leaders have been mentally disturbed because they have nothing left to say, as our Prime Minister Narendra Modi continues to perform exceptionally. For the unity of the nation, we must transcend party lines when making public statements.”
Iranna Kadadi also criticized Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah for his recent controversial remarks, alleging that his comments were made to garner support from minority communities. Kadadi further contended that the public backlash Siddaramaiah faced led the Congress High Command to restrict its leaders from making similar statements.
“Siddaramaiah made his statement solely to secure minority votes. He withdrew it only after public criticism. This is precisely why the Congress High Command has instructed its leaders to refrain from issuing such comments. The country is currently facing serious challenges, and in times of crisis, we must stand with the ruling government,” he added.
Emphasizing the dangers of politicizing sensitive issues, Kadadi accused Siddaramaiah of engaging in vote-bank politics. He noted that the Chief Minister’s remarks had even gained traction in Pakistan, further underlining their controversial nature.
“Not every issue should be politicized. Siddaramaiah’s statement has gained popularity in Pakistan. These types of remarks are made purely for vote-bank politics,” Kadadi remarked.
Earlier, on April 28, BJP leader Nishikant Dubey had also condemned Siddaramaiah’s purported “no need of war” comment following the Pahalgam attack. Dubey questioned Siddaramaiah’s patriotism and urged the public to assess whether the Karnataka CM was a “patriot or a traitor.”
“Whether Siddaramaiah is a patriot or a traitor, the people should decide. I have no need to ask anything from Rahul Gandhi. I place my trust in our Prime Minister, Home Minister, and Defence Minister,” Dubey told ANI.
Responding to the controversy, Siddaramaiah later clarified that he did not advocate for a complete rejection of war, but rather that war should only be pursued if absolutely necessary. He also criticized the government for failing to ensure adequate protection for tourists in Jammu and Kashmir.
Earlier this month, a terror attack in Pahalgam claimed the lives of 26 tourists. In response, India has taken a series of diplomatic and strategic measures to counter Pakistan’s continued support for cross-border terrorism.
