Washington, D.C. [US], June 12 (ANI): Israel is fully prepared to launch a military operation against Iran, according to multiple sources cited by CBS News, and has communicated this readiness to U.S. officials. In anticipation of potential fallout, particularly Iranian retaliation targeting American sites in Iraq, the U.S. State Department has issued advisories for Americans to leave the region. Non-emergency government staff in Iraq have been ordered to exit immediately due to what officials described as “heightened regional tensions.“
The escalating situation comes amid deteriorating U.S.-Iran nuclear negotiations and rising concern over Iran’s nuclear ambitions. U.S. President Donald Trump, speaking Thursday at a performance of Les Misérables at the Kennedy Center, reaffirmed his administration’s position: “They can’t have a nuclear weapon. Very simple. They can’t have a nuclear weapon. We’re not going to allow that.”
Trump confirmed that U.S. military personnel are being withdrawn from certain Middle Eastern nations due to the perceived danger. “They are being moved out because it could be a dangerous place and we will see what happens… We have given notice to move out,” he told reporters.
Meanwhile, Steve Witkoff, Trump’s Middle East envoy, is reportedly still scheduled to engage in a sixth round of talks with Iran regarding its nuclear program, despite the deteriorating diplomatic climate.
The U.S. military and State Department confirmed on Wednesday that they are drawing down personnel in Iraq, Bahrain, and Kuwait, authorizing the voluntary departure of non-essential staff and families due to fears of regional unrest.
A State Department official, quoted by The Times of Israel, stated: “President Trump is committed to keeping Americans safe, both at home and abroad. In keeping with that commitment, we are constantly assessing the appropriate personnel posture at all our embassies. Based on our latest analysis, we decided to reduce the footprint of our Mission in Iraq.”
Tensions have surged in recent days as hopes for a breakthrough in nuclear talks with Tehran have faded. U.S. intelligence agencies and military analysts are reportedly monitoring potential Iranian responses closely, particularly in the form of proxy attacks on American interests in the region.
While no formal announcement has been made by Israel, the reported readiness for military action against Iran represents a dramatic escalation in what has been a long-standing geopolitical flashpoint with global implications. (ANI)
