Tel Aviv [Israel], June 24 (ANI): The Israeli Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) on Tuesday evening stated that Israel has held back from launching further attacks on Iran, following a phone conversation between US President Donald Trump and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
This statement came shortly after President Trump publicly criticized both Israel and Iran for violating the ceasefire he had brokered earlier in the day.
In a series of posts on social media platform X, the Israeli PMO said, “Pursuant to the conversation between President Trump and Prime Minister Netanyahu, Israel has refrained from additional attacks. In the conversation, President Trump expressed his great appreciation for Israel, which achieved all of its objectives for the war, as well as his confidence in the stability of the ceasefire.”
The PMO also detailed a sequence of military actions that occurred in the hours leading up to and following the ceasefire agreement. It noted that prior to the ceasefire’s scheduled implementation at 7:00 a.m., Iranian forces launched a missile barrage that killed four civilians in Be’er Sheva. In retaliation, Israeli forces carried out a significant strike in central Tehran, targeting regime personnel.
“The ceasefire was set for 07:00 this morning. At 03:00, Israel forcefully attacked in the heart of Tehran, struck regime targets, and eliminated hundreds of Basij and Iranian security forces personnel,” the post said.
Despite the formal start of the ceasefire, Iran continued firing missiles at Israeli territory, the PMO added. “At 07:06, Iran launched one missile at Israeli territory, and two additional missiles at 10:25. These missiles were either intercepted or fell in open areas and caused neither casualties nor damage.”
In response to these violations, the Israeli Air Force destroyed a radar installation near Tehran, the statement confirmed.
Meanwhile, President Trump expressed frustration over the ceasefire breaches in a series of posts on Truth Social, stating, “ISRAEL. DO NOT DROP THOSE BOMBS. IF YOU DO IT IS A MAJOR VIOLATION. BRING YOUR PILOTS HOME, NOW!” He emphasized that the ceasefire remained in effect and reiterated his call for restraint.
The ceasefire agreement, brokered by the US with support from Qatar, came just hours after Iran targeted American bases in the Middle East. The situation remains tense, as diplomatic and military officials closely monitor developments on both sides. (ANI)
