Tel Aviv [Israel], March 17 (ANI): Israel’s Health Ministry reported that 3,530 people have been injured and admitted to hospitals since the outbreak of the war.
Providing a breakdown of current medical conditions, the ministry said 86 individuals remain hospitalized, including eight in serious condition.
The update comes as the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) shift to a more aggressive military posture. In an announcement made Monday, the IDF confirmed the start of “limited and targeted ground operations” against key Hezbollah strongholds in southern Lebanon, marking a significant escalation in regional hostilities.
In a statement posted on X, the military said the maneuver is aimed at enhancing the forward defense area.
The initial phase is part of a broader defensive effort to establish and strengthen a forward posture, focusing on dismantling militant infrastructure and targeting operatives in the region.
The IDF said forces from the 91st Division have begun focused ground operations to expand the designated defense zone.
The military emphasized that the expansion is intended to remove threats and create an additional layer of security for residents in northern Israel.
Ahead of the ground operations, the IDF said it conducted strikes on multiple targets using artillery and airpower.
The operations are being carried out alongside the 146th Division, with the primary objective of defending communities in the Galilee region.
Visual material released by the military included night-vision footage and images showing soldiers moving through terrain in southern Lebanon and inspecting structures as part of the mission.
The IDF said the actions were in response to Hezbollah, which it accused of joining the conflict and operating with support from Iran.
The military added that it would continue operations to prevent harm to civilians in Israel as activity in southern Lebanon continues. (ANI)
