Tel Aviv [Israel], June 23 (ANI/TPS): In a high-intensity military operation, the Israeli Air Force (IAF) launched targeted airstrikes on command centers and infrastructure in Tehran, striking at the heart of Iran’s internal security and regime control apparatus, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) confirmed on Monday.
According to the IDF, the strikes were aimed at facilities affiliated with the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) and Internal Security Forces—bodies tasked with preserving the Iranian regime’s authority, quelling dissent, and securing the homeland against internal threats. “These command centres have a significant military effect and additionally impact the regime’s ability to impose control,” the IDF stated. “Striking these military targets harms the Iranian regime’s military capabilities.”
The targets hit included the Basij headquarters, a major paramilitary force under the IRGC, known for enforcing Islamic law and monitoring civilian activity; the Thar-Allah Command Center, the elite IRGC unit charged with defending Tehran from internal unrest and security threats; the Alborz Corps, responsible for the internal security of several key cities in the Tehran District; and the Sayyed al-Shuhada Corps, subordinate to the IRGC and tasked with homeland defense and the suppression of domestic threats. The General Intelligence Directorate, which oversees surveillance of internal security forces and controls media and information dissemination, and the Intelligence and General Security Police were also struck.
The access roads to the Fordow nuclear facility, already damaged in a U.S. strike on Saturday, were bombed to further disrupt Iran’s nuclear infrastructure. Notably, the IDF confirmed targeting Tehran’s notorious Evin Prison, known internationally for detaining political dissidents, journalists, and dual-national prisoners accused of espionage.
Defense Minister Israel Katz remarked, “For every shot at the Israeli home front, the Iranian dictator will be punished and the attacks will continue with full force.” He emphasized that the operation focused on striking regime and repression bodies at the heart of Tehran.
These strikes come amid a broader conflict that began with Iran launching over 1,000 drones and missiles, killing 24 people and injuring more than 1,300 in Israel. The Israel Tax Authority has received over 25,000 damage claims following the barrage.
On June 13, Israel launched preemptive strikes on Iranian nuclear sites, citing intelligence that Tehran had reached a “point of no return” in its pursuit of nuclear weapons. Israeli officials say Iran has amassed enough fissile material to build up to 15 nuclear bombs and exposed a covert program to complete all technical components of a nuclear device.
The latest Israeli strikes mark a significant escalation in efforts to dismantle Iran’s military and nuclear infrastructure, which officials describe as part of a broader strategy involving missile proliferation and proxy warfare aimed at Israel’s destruction. (ANI/TPS)
