Tel Aviv [Israel], June 26 (ANI/TPS): Bashar Hassan Qassem Musa, a 22-year-old resident of Deir al-Asad, an Arab village in the Galilee, and a student of information systems at Ben-Gurion University, has been arrested on suspicion of committing security offenses involving contact with Iranian intelligence and carrying out missions at their direction.
His arrest was the result of a joint operation by the Shin Bet (Israel’s General Security Service) and the Northern District Command of the Israel Police. Authorities have confirmed that an indictment will be filed against him shortly.
According to the investigation conducted by Shin Bet and the police, Bashar had been in communication with an Iranian official for several months. During this time, he allegedly carried out a number of security-related missions as instructed by his handler.
The investigation revealed that these missions included attempts to damage an individual’s reputation, scattering nails on a main road in Beersheba to potentially cause harm or disruption, and efforts to incite divisive discourse. Officials stated that these actions were motivated by Bashar’s sympathies regarding the situation in the Gaza Strip. He was reportedly compensated for his involvement in these activities.
In light of this case, the Shin Bet and the Israel Police have once again cautioned citizens and residents of Israel against establishing contact with foreign elements, especially those from enemy states, and warned against participating in any operations on their behalf. (ANI/TPS)
