Washington DC [US], June 25 (ANI): US President Donald Trump on Tuesday declared that it was his “great honour” to destroy all of Iran’s nuclear facilities and capabilities before brokering a ceasefire between Iran and Israel, effectively ending what he described as “THE WAR.”
In a post on Truth Social, Trump wrote, “Both Israel and Iran wanted to stop the War, equally! It was my great honour to Destroy All Nuclear facilities & capability, and then, STOP THE WAR.”
His comments came after a turbulent two weeks of military escalation in West Asia. On June 13, Israel initiated strikes against Iranian nuclear and military sites, citing a critical threat from Tehran’s nuclear program. Iran retaliated with drone and missile strikes against Israeli infrastructure. The US subsequently entered the conflict with targeted strikes on Iran’s Fordow, Natanz, and Isfahan nuclear facilities.
The latest ceasefire announcement followed Iran’s missile attacks on US military bases in Qatar and Iraq. Despite this diplomatic breakthrough, the fragile truce was tested almost immediately. The Israeli Air Force (IAF) conducted a limited retaliatory strike on an Iranian radar installation north of Tehran. In response, Iran launched two ballistic missiles toward Israel.
Trump expressed sharp criticism over these ceasefire breaches, remarking that “the two countries have been fighting so long and so hard that they don’t know what the f** they’re doing.”*
Following these events, the Israeli Prime Minister’s Office issued a statement affirming that Israel had refrained from further attacks after a call between President Trump and Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. “President Trump expressed his great appreciation for Israel, which achieved all of its objectives for the war, as well as his confidence in the stability of the ceasefire,” the PMO stated.
Israeli Minister of Defence Israel Katz also weighed in, expressing gratitude to President Trump and his administration. In a post on X, Katz said, “I spoke moments ago with U.S. Secretary of Defence Pete Hegseth. I thanked him for President Donald Trump’s bold decision to act with Israel against the Iranian nuclear threat.”
He added, “The Secretary praised Israel and the IDF for the historic achievements made. I emphasised that Israel will respect the ceasefire — as long as the other side does. We agreed to deepen the close U.S.-Israel security cooperation.”
The conflict, which began with Israel’s “Operation Rising Lion” and was met with Iran’s “Operation True Promise 3,” resulted in extensive destruction, hundreds of casualties, and heightened fears of regional instability. While the ceasefire remains fragile, US diplomatic pressure and military coordination with Israel appear to have succeeded—at least temporarily—in halting the spiral of violence. (ANI)
