Jaishankar held a telephonic conversation with UK Foreign Secretary David Lammy on Sunday to discuss the recent cross-border terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir. In the conversation, Jaishankar emphasized the importance of zero tolerance for terrorism.
The attack, which occurred on April 22, targeted tourists in the popular Baisaran Meadow area, resulting in the deaths of 26 people, including one Nepalese national. The deadly assault has drawn widespread international condemnation, marking one of the most severe attacks in the region since the 2019 Pulwama bombing.
Jaishankar’s conversation with Lammy was part of broader global reactions to the tragedy. The Dawoodi Bohra community in Queens, New York, also expressed its solidarity, condemning the attack and observing a moment of silence in honor of the victims.
The incident has also sparked strong condemnation from Nepali lawmakers, with members of the House of Representatives in Nepal extending condolences to the victims’ families and reiterating the global need for unified action against terrorism. Anita Devi Shah, a former minister, stressed that terrorism knows no boundaries and must be fought collectively across the world.
