Moscow [Russia], November 19 (ANI): External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar met Russian Deputy Prime Minister Denis Manturov in Moscow on Wednesday to review progress since their last meeting in August and to discuss preparations for the upcoming Annual India-Russia Leaders’ Summit in New Delhi next month.
Jaishankar, in a post on X, said, “A pleasure to meet First DPM Denis Manturov in Moscow today morning. Took stock of the progress made since our last meeting for the 26th IRIGC-TEC in August 2025. Reviewed preparations for the upcoming Annual India-Russia Leaders Summit in New Delhi next month.”
According to the Russian Embassy in India, the discussions focused on bilateral cooperation across priority sectors and implementation of decisions from the 26th Session of the Russian-Indian Inter-Governmental Commission on Trade, Economic, Scientific, Technical, and Cultural Cooperation. Key areas covered included trade, investment, finance, energy, and industrial cooperation. The meeting also formed part of the preparations for Russian President Vladimir Putin’s upcoming visit to India.
The meeting follows Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s discussion with Nikolai Patrushev, aide to President Putin, in New Delhi on November 18, where both sides reviewed ways to deepen bilateral cooperation, especially in the maritime domain. Earlier this week, Jaishankar also met Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov to review preparations for the 23rd Annual India-Russia Summit, focusing on trade, people-to-people exchanges, and strategic partnerships.
During his visit, Jaishankar paid respects to Mahatma Gandhi in Moscow, highlighting the contemporary relevance of Gandhi’s ideals, and inaugurated India’s Consulates in Yekaterinburg and Kazan. He expressed confidence that the new missions would strengthen trade, tourism, economic, scientific, technological, academic, and cultural ties between India and Russia.
Following the inaugurations, Jaishankar engaged with members of the Indian community and friends of India in Moscow.
