Washington DC [US], May 21 (ANI): Former US National Security Advisor John Bolton expressed strong support for India’s diplomatic efforts following Operation Sindoor, emphasizing the need to educate the global community on the terrorism India faces. Speaking to ANI, Bolton described the all-party delegations showcasing India’s fight against terrorism as “definitely worth doing.”
John Bolton said, “It is important for India to educate people around the world about the nature of these terrorist attacks. It is unacceptable for innocent civilians to be threatened or harmed. At the UN, it’s often difficult to focus on this because one person’s terrorist is another’s liberation movement. India has endured significant terror attacks nationwide, so it’s a good place to explain this threat and gain support.”
The first of seven All-Party Parliamentary Delegations, led by JD(U) MP Sanjay Kumar Jha, departed from New Delhi for a five-nation tour in East and Southeast Asia. This delegation, representing major parties including BJP, Congress, TMC, and CPI(M), will visit Japan, South Korea, Indonesia, Malaysia, and Singapore.
Another group, led by Shiv Sena MP Shrikant Shinde, is preparing to visit the UAE, Liberia, the Democratic Republic of Congo, and Sierra Leone. The 8-member delegation includes BJP MPs Bansuri Swaraj and Atul Garg, BJD MP Sasmit Patra, BJP Rajya Sabha MP and senior advocate Manan Kumar Mishra, BJP leader SS Ahluwalia, IUML MP ET Mohammed Basheer, and Ambassador Sujan Chinoy.
Ministry of External Affairs spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal reiterated India’s commitment to “zero tolerance against terrorism,” noting that this diplomatic outreach aims to reaffirm the country’s resolve to combat terrorism in all its forms.
In the context of Operation Sindoor and India’s ongoing efforts against cross-border terrorism, seven All-Party Delegations are visiting key partner countries, including UN Security Council members, to project India’s national consensus and firm stance against terrorism worldwide.
On India’s efforts to secure United Nations listing of The Resistance Front (TRF), a Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) proxy that claimed responsibility for the Pahalgam terror attack, Bolton remarked, “Getting the UN to acknowledge a group as terrorist is significant. India is justified in seeking this, and it forms part of the educational effort. It’s important to present all facts publicly to show why retaliatory action is justified.”
Earlier, on May 7, Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri highlighted Pakistan’s role in pressuring the UN to remove references to TRF in a Security Council press statement issued on April 25. He recalled India’s prior sharing of inputs about TRF with the UN, underscoring its role as a cover for terrorists based in Pakistan. (ANI)
