Raichur (Karnataka) [India], June 23 (ANI): Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah inaugurated development projects worth ₹936 crore in Raichur on Monday, reaffirming the Congress government’s dedication to delivering on its election promises, according to an official statement from the Chief Minister’s Office (CMO).
Speaking at the Tribal Cultural Festival organized by the Scheduled Tribes Welfare Department and the District Administration, Siddaramaiah also unveiled the nameplate of Adikavi Maharshi Valmiki University and participated in the 371st Dashamanotsav celebrations.
“Our government is committed to development. We had promised 560 guarantees during this election. Already, 235 of these have been fulfilled, and the remaining will be completed in the next three years,” the Chief Minister said.
He criticized the previous BJP government, accusing it of neglecting development and resorting to false propaganda in frustration over the Congress party’s progress. “From 2013 to 2018, our previous government fulfilled all the promises made and even 30 more that were not part of the manifesto,” he added.
Highlighting the economic pressures under the Modi-led central government, Siddaramaiah pointed to the steep rise in prices of essential commodities such as gold, silver, rice, pulses, cooking oil, LPG, petrol, diesel, and fertilizers. He alleged that “despite being in power at the Centre, the BJP is lying shamelessly to the people.”
Referring to the importance of Article 371J for the development of the Kalyana Karnataka region, the Chief Minister credited Congress leaders like Mallikarjun Kharge and Dharam Singh, along with the UPA government led by Dr. Manmohan Singh, for making it a reality. “The BJP opposed this historic step. When Vajpayee was Prime Minister, Advani said that 371J was not possible,” he claimed.
Siddaramaiah noted that since Congress came to power, ₹13,500 crore has been allocated for the region’s development and committed to increasing this funding further. “Due to 371J, our youth are now becoming engineers, doctors, IAS, IPS, ACs, and DCs. This is our achievement,” he stated.
Thanking voters for electing Congress in all five Lok Sabha seats from the region, he said, “The blessings of the people of Raichur district are always upon us. Kalyana Karnataka will remain a stronghold of Congress.”
Criticizing the BJP for what he called “betrayal” of Karnataka, Siddaramaiah said, “Even though they are in power at the Centre, BJP leaders have failed to correct the injustice done to Karnataka. No BJP MP has raised their voice to protect the state’s interests. This is their true character.”
The Chief Minister announced his intention to meet Union Finance Minister in Delhi to demand corrections to the injustice done to Karnataka by the 15th Finance Commission, calling for rectification in the 16th Finance Commission.
He concluded by expressing confidence in Raichur MLA Raja Venkatappa Nayak Daddal’s political future, predicting his victory in the 2028 elections. (ANI)
