Kazan [Russia], October 7 (ANI): Kazan, the capital of the Republic of Tatarstan, will host the business forum TIME: Russia – India. Mutual Efficiency on October 8–9, marking a significant step in deepening ties between the region and India, Rustam Minnikhanov, Rais (Head) of Tatarstan, said.
Speaking to TV BRICS, Minnikhanov noted the forum’s importance, recalling Kazan’s hosting of the BRICS Summit in 2024, attended by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. “In Kazan, the opening of the Consulate General of India is planned, our universities are actively cooperating, and there is growing interest in joint educational and scientific programmes. All this creates a foundation for expanding cooperation in industry, high-tech sectors, innovation, tourism, and humanitarian initiatives,” he said.
The forum, supported by the Government of Tatarstan and the Embassy of India in Russia, will feature over 50 honorary guests. The Indian delegation will be led by Ambassador of India to Russia Vinay Kumar. Russian representatives include Sergey Cheremin, Minister of the Moscow Government, and Taliya Minullina, Head of the Investment Development Agency of Tatarstan.
The event will cover 12 thematic areas including oil and gas chemistry, IT, and pharmaceuticals. Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov remarked that “the full diversity of Russian-Indian cooperation is reflected in the rich programme of the forum,” as reported by TV BRICS. Discussions will focus on industry development, digital technologies, agriculture, education, and science, with attention to investment, finance, and market entry strategies.
The forum will also witness signing of agreements on joint projects and launch of new initiatives. Sammy Kotwani, President of the Indian Business Alliance (IBA), highlighted promising sectors such as pharmaceuticals, healthcare, and agro-industrial processing, emphasising India’s advanced technologies and Russia’s resource potential. “The IBA serves as a bridge between entrepreneurs and policymakers… ensuring business voices are heard within the broader strategic dialogue of BRICS,” Kotwani said.
The cultural programme will feature an Indian film festival, introductions to Indian cuisine, and a friendly cricket match between Russian and Indian student teams, underscoring the event’s spirit of partnership and cultural exchange.
