
New Delhi [India], June 7 (ANI) – A new Indian Coast Guard jetty was inaugurated at Vizhinjam on Saturday by Director General S Paramesh, AVSM, PTM, TM of the Indian Coast Guard, in the presence of Inspector General Bhisham Sharma, PTM, TM, Commander of Coast Guard Region (West), during an official ceremony, according to a press release.
The newly inaugurated Coast Guard jetty is designed to support safe berthing and rapid deployment of surface assets. The berth measures 76.70 meters in length, 8 meters in breadth, and has a depth ranging from 4 to 6 meters, enabling it to accommodate the Coast Guard vessels currently stationed at Vizhinjam.
The project was executed by the Harbour Engineering Department (HED) of the Kerala State Government and constructed by RTF Infra Pvt Ltd, based in Thiruvananthapuram.
The ceremony was attended by senior officials from the Vizhinjam International Seaport Ltd (VISL), Government of Kerala, Kerala Maritime Board, Port authorities, as well as officers from the Indian Army, Air Force, State Police, Adani Port Pvt Ltd, the Fisheries Department, and representatives from both the public and private sectors.
