Tehran [Iran], June 27 (ANI): Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei has issued a sharp response to US President Donald Trump’s recent call for Iran’s “unconditional surrender,” dismissing the remark as exaggerated and inappropriate.
“The US President stated, ‘Iran must surrender.’ Needless to say, this statement is too big to come out of the US president’s mouth,” Khamenei posted on X.
According to The Hill, Khamenei also declared that the US had gained nothing from its military strikes on Iran and warned against any further aggression. These comments marked his first public remarks since the United States conducted airstrikes on three of Iran’s nuclear sites on Saturday.
In a ten-minute address, Khamenei proclaimed Iran’s “victory” in the ongoing conflict, asserting that the US entered the war solely to prevent the collapse of Israel. “My congratulations on our dear Iran’s victory over the US regime,” he said. “The US regime entered the war directly because it felt that if it didn’t, the Zionist regime would be completely destroyed. It entered the war in an effort to save that regime but achieved nothing.”
In contrast, President Trump has described the strikes as a “spectacular military success” and claimed that they had “obliterated Iran’s nuclear program.”
Earlier this week, Trump posted on Truth Social calling for Iran’s “unconditional surrender” and warned of further military action if Tehran fails to agree to a peace deal. “There will be either peace or there will be tragedy for Iran, far greater than we have witnessed over the last eight days,” Trump said in a Saturday address from the White House. “Remember, there are many targets left. Tonight’s was the most difficult of them all, by far, and perhaps the most lethal. But if peace does not come quickly, we will go after those other targets with precision, speed, and skill.”
The escalating conflict between Iran and Israel began on June 13 when Israel launched “Operation Rising Lion,” targeting Iranian military and nuclear facilities. In retaliation, Iran responded with “Operation True Promise 3,” which involved widespread missile and drone attacks against Israeli infrastructure. (ANI)
