Washington, D.C. — Acclaimed Indian playback singer and composer Mano performed before an enthusiastic audience in the U.S. capital during a special Diwali Musical Night, which also marked the launch of a new cultural initiative, “Tamasha Entertainments.”
The event, organized by Mr. Shekar Kollabatula, a longtime entrepreneur, brought together members of the local Indian community and music enthusiasts from across the DMV area. The program provided a platform for talented regional singers to share the stage with the veteran artist, creating a memorable evening of music and celebration at High Point High School in Maryland.
With a career spanning more than three decades, Mano has recorded over 30,000 songs in 15 Indian languages, including Konkani and Assamese, and has performed in more than 3,000 live concerts across the globe. In addition to his achievements as a playback singer, he is also recognized as a voice-over and dubbing artist in the Tamil film industry, lending his voice to stars such as Rajinikanth, Kamal Haasan, S. P. Balasubrahmanyam, M. S. Viswanathan, A. R. Rahman, and Akshay Kumar.
Born into a Telugu-speaking Muslim family from Andhra Pradesh, Mano has two sons, one of whom is involved in the film industry. Over the years, he has received several prestigious honors, including the Dr. Ghantasala Award and recognition as Best Male Playback Singer.
In acknowledgment of his artistic excellence and public service, Mano was recently honored with the President’s Gold Medallion for his outstanding contributions to music and cultural engagement.
Organizers Babu Vinayagan and Shekar Kollabatula extended their gratitude to event sponsors Fintech Veer Vasanth, Ashok Aitiyapan, Tiara Software Venkatesh, Arogya, Wordsworth, and Balagan Tax and Accounting for their support in making the event a success.
