Lucknow (Uttar Pradesh) [India], April 30 (ANI): In a compassionate and impactful gesture, Lucknow University has announced it will fund the full education of the dependents of those who lost their lives in the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack.
Vice Chancellor Alok Rai made the announcement, stating that the university would provide free education, along with accommodation and books, to the dependents of the victims. He emphasized that the institution warmly welcomes them to pursue their studies at Lucknow University.
“We will welcome the dependents of those who were killed in the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack to study at Lucknow University. The cost of their education, accommodation, books, and related expenses will be borne entirely by the university,” said Rai.
Earlier, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath had reiterated the state’s firm stance on terrorism, emphasizing the government’s policy of zero tolerance in such matters.
Among the 26 victims of the brutal terrorist assault at Baisaran meadow in Pahalgam was Shubham Dwivedi, the only child of his parents. The attack also left several others injured and has sparked national outrage, with leaders across the political spectrum strongly condemning the violence.
Dwivedi’s grieving wife, Eshanaay, recounted the traumatic incident, stating that the couple was sharing a meal when a man approached them, asked about their religion, and then opened fire, fatally shooting her husband.
Today, Prime Minister Narendra Modi convened a high-level meeting of the Cabinet Committee on Security (CCS) at his residence to review the situation in the wake of the attack. In addition to the CCS, meetings of the Cabinet Committee on Political Affairs (CCPA) and the Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA) were also held. A formal cabinet briefing is scheduled for 3:00 PM.
The Pahalgam attack has been described as one of the most devastating terrorist strikes in the Kashmir Valley since the 2019 Pulwama bombing, which claimed the lives of 40 CRPF personnel. It also stands as one of the most significant terror incidents since the abrogation of Article 370 later that same year.
