
Guwahati (Assam) [India], April 13 (ANI): Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma announced the launch of Medi JARVIS, a Made-in-India robotic surgery machine, at the State Cancer Institute today. The advanced surgical technology is designed to assist doctors in performing complex surgeries with greater ease.

Taking to X (formerly Twitter), CM Sarma shared:
“Medi JARVIS to aid the Iron Men and Women of real-life—doctors!” “We are all set to dedicate the Made in India Robotic Surgery Machine at the State Cancer Institute tomorrow which can execute complex surgeries with ease.”
The machine is expected to provide precision and enhance surgical outcomes, making complex procedures more manageable for medical professionals.
Peaceful Situation Amid Protests
In addition to the surgical technology announcement, CM Sarma also lauded the efforts of Assam Police and minority community leaders for maintaining peace in the state despite intelligence reports warning of potential unrest over protests related to the Waqf Amendment Act.
CM Sarma emphasized:
- Extensive outreach efforts by the Assam Police and dialogue with leaders from the minority community played a crucial role in preventing major disturbances.
- Despite warnings of protests, the situation remained calm, with only minor demonstrations reported at three locations, involving around 150 people at each venue.
“The peaceful situation in the state is the result of the extensive outreach carried out by the Assam Police,” CM Sarma remarked.
