Vienna [Austria], May 16 (ANI): Military aviation analyst and historian Tom Cooper has criticized the Western media’s biased reporting on India’s Operation Sindoor, attributing it to the West being less affected by religion-motivated terrorism compared to India. Speaking to ANI, Cooper noted that the West’s response to terrorism is shaped by different historical and political contexts, leading to a disparity in media coverage.
Cooper praised the Indian military’s precision in neutralizing targets during Operation Sindoor, stating that six out of nine terror sites were accurately destroyed. He highlighted that while completely dismantling the anti-terror infrastructure would require further efforts, the operation significantly weakened Pakistan’s conventional military capabilities.
Commenting on the West’s lack of acknowledgment of India’s achievements, Cooper pointed out that the media tends to downplay India’s success due to geopolitical factors. He argued that India’s alignment with Russia for arms procurement, in contrast to Pakistan’s reliance on U.S. arms, contributes to this bias. Cooper emphasized that the U.S. has strategic and economic interests linked to Pakistan, leading to a narrative that often favors Islamabad.
Cooper also expressed concern that Western media’s current focus on other global issues could result in a missed opportunity to reassess its stance toward India and acknowledge the shift in the India-Pakistan power dynamic. He cautioned that overlooking India’s success in Operation Sindoor could hinder the West from updating its regional political and strategic approach. (ANI)
